SUPER BOWL FOOD PRICES SOAR
Inflation has made life more expensive for Americans over the past two years, and this year’s Super Bowl parties will be no exception.
The data: We’re looking at the December Consumer Price Index report since January’s report doesn’t come out until next week.
The big number is 11.8%. That’s how much ‘food at home’ has risen compared to one year ago.
Super Bowl party staples are through the roof:
🌭 Hot dogs: +18.2%
🍻 Beer: +8.6%
🍗 Chicken [wings]: +10.9%
🌽 Tortilla chips: +22%
🥤Sodas: +13%
🍿 Snacks: +11%
🥪 Sandwich meat: +15.1%
Pizza has always been a cheap, reliable football food, right?
Not anymore:
🍕 Flour: +23.4%
🍕 Tomatoes: +9.1%
🍕 Cheese: +12.8%
Planning to watch the game at a bar? You won’t find much relief there either.
The price of ”food away from home’ has increased by 8.3% compared to one year ago.
Joe Biden told Americans that food prices were “coming down.”
Americans who buy their own groceries every week know that’s not true.
