Oscar is Dead
The Oscars is enforcing new diversity and inclusion quotes on movies that want to be considered for their coveted Best Picture of the Year award.
The new “Representation and Inclusion Standards” go into effect immediately and apply to next year’s 96th Oscars.
Under these rules, a movie must meet 2 out of 4 standards “in order for the film to be deemed eligible.”
Those four standards are:
Has a main character from an racial/ethnic minority group
The storyline is about underrepresented groups
30% of the cast must be made up of underrepresented groups
Multiple senior executives are from underrepresented groups.
They define underrepresented groups as racial and ethnic minorities, women, LGBTQ, or disabled people.
Film buffs have been quick to point out that under these standards, The Godfather and Schindler’s List would not have qualified for the award.
One anonymous director told The NY Post:
“I’m for diversity, but to make you cast certain types of people if you want to get nominated? That makes the whole process contrived. The person who is right for the part should get the part. Why should you be limited in your choices? But it’s the world we’re in. This is crazy.”
Hollywood actor Richard Dreyfus recently voiced his objection to the rules, saying: “They make me vomit. No one should be telling me as an artist that I have to give in to the latest, most current idea of what morality is.”
The numbers: Oscar ratings have declined considerably over the past 20+ years. In 2000, the award show drew an audience of 46.3 million. This year’s show drew just 18.7 million viewers.
Here’s the solution: Don’t watch this garbage. Support independent conservative movies like Passion of the Christ actor Jim Caviezel’s new movie Sound Of Freedom, which exposes the evils of human trafficking.
