JOE BIDEN SCHEMES TO BOOST ELECTRIC VEHICLES

The Biden regime is planning to impose strict auto-pollution limits that will force most American consumers to move towards electric vehicles.

Details: The Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) announced new vehicle pollution standards that will put a cap on tailpipe emissions and impact new car models between 2027 and 2032. Overall this means, by 2027 electric vehicles will make up:

🚗 67% of new sedans, crossovers, SUVs, and light trucks
🚌 50% of bus and garbage trucks
🚛 35% of short-haul freight tractors
🚚 25% of long-haul freight tractors

This moves toward’s Biden’s goal of having 50% of new cars and 30% of medium-heavy trucks be ‘zero emission’ by 2030.

For perspective: Gas-powered cars made up 93% of purchases in 2022. EVs accounted for roughly 6%. And it’s easy to see why when the average cost for an EV is $61,448.

Manufacturing the EV appetite: Only 19% of Americans say they’re likely to choose an EV as their next car, citing the high prices. So the Biden regime is using these regulations on tailpipe emissions to drive up the average price for a gas-powered car, to make EVs more competitive.

Additionally, the regime is giving Americans a $7,500 tax credit for new EVs that put gas-powered cars at a competitive disadvantage.

This makes us more reliant on China: A crucial component of electric vehicles is lithium-ion batteries. 79% are manufactured in China. And in 2022 the U.S. shelled out $9.2 billion to Chinese manufacturers for the coveted item.

Sen. John Barrasso summed it up well, tweeting: “The president’s disastrous energy transition is making us more reliant on our enemies while driving up prices for Americans. The ‘electrification of everything’ is not a solution. It’s a road to higher prices and fewer choices.”
