Joe Biden claimed that a 10-year-old girl was recently forced to travel across state lines to receive an abortion due to the Supreme Court overturning Roe v. Wade.

Turns out, according to the left-wing Washington Post, that story was likely a lie.

The claim: During a speech, Biden said:

“Just last week, it was reported that a 10-year-old girl was a rape victim. 10-years-old. And she was forced to have to travel out of state to Indiana to seek to terminate the pregnancy and maybe save her life.”

…Biden’s tale originated from a news article that cited an Indianapolis OBGYN named Caitlan Barnard. Barnard claimed that she received a call from an Ohio doctor with a 10-year-old patient on her wait to Indiana for an abortion due to Ohio’s abortion ban.

The truth:

A Washington Post fact-checker pointed out that the article didn’t meet journalistic standards for several reasons:
Barnard was the only source cited in the article. There was no corroboration from the girl, her family, or even the Ohio doctor.

Barnard was not an unbiased source. She is actually a prominent abortion advocate.

Barnard has also declined to share more details to corroborate her story.

Of course, by the time the Washington Post fact-checked Biden’s story, it had already gone viral and was repeated all over left-wing media.
