China Restricts The United States Access To Vital Minerals
China is ramping up the U.S. tech rivalry by imposing export controls on two minerals that are vital to U.S. military equipment, semiconductors, and solar technology.
China’s move is a counter to the U.S. halting exports of advanced semiconductor equipment to China and persuading allies to follow suit.
The minerals – gallium & germanium – which are dominated by China, will face new export restrictions beginning August 1.
Gallium is a key component in semiconductors used in phone chargers, electric vehicles, and military/radar equipment.
Germanium is a key component in fiber-optic systems, solar cells, and space equipment.
95% of rare earth metals come from or are processed in China. The CEO of Raytheon, one of the U.S. top weapons manufacturers, admitted that the company has “several thousand suppliers in China and decoupling… is impossible.”
In related news: The Biden regime is reportedly preparing to restrict Chinese companies access to U.S. cloud-computing companies like Amazon and Microsoft.
