BIDEN BILL ADDS 3 TRILLION TO THE NATIONAL DEBT
The non-partisan Congressional Budget Office just finished crunching the numbers on Joe Biden’s multi-trillion-dollar ‘Build Back Better’ climate and social welfare bill. And they found it would add $3 trillion dollars to our federal debt over the next 10 years if all of its provisions are made permanent.
That’s bad on its own. But it’s even worse, considering that Biden and Democrats have spent the last month promising voters that it would “pay for itself” and wouldn’t add to our already $29 trillion dollars in federal debt.
Gimmicks and shell games: Democrat Senator Joe Manchin is holding up Biden’s bill. And he’s doing so because he’s realized that Biden was using what he describes as “gimmicks” and “shell games” to conceal the real cost of the bill. Hidden inside the bill are several very expensive programs that Biden says will expire in the next 5 years, like:
Universal childcare
SALT deductions [big tax cuts for blue-state millionaires]
Medicaid expansion
Child tax credits
But to quote Ronald Reagan: “Government programs, once launched, never disappear. Actually, a government bureau is the nearest thing to eternal life we’ll ever see on this earth!”
So given what we know, historically, about what happens when you create a government program, Republicans requested the CBO score Biden’s bill assuming these provisions were made permanent. And the result would be a federal debt that is 116% of our country’s total Gross Domestic Product.
Joe Manchin, who is set to meet with Joe Biden, called this CBO score “very sobering” and said he plans to bring up “exactly what happened with the CBO score and inflation reports” in his meeting.
Everything rests in the hands of a Democrat from West Virginia.
