We live in a world where progressive Democrats are constantly trying to divorce the father from the child – through cultural rot and welfare policies that incentivize single parenthood. But new research is shining a light on how important a role dads play in a child’s life – especially to young men.

The overall picture: The percentage of boys living apart from their biological fathers has doubled since 1960, from 17% to 32% today – that’s roughly 25 million children.

Boys are hit worst: Being raised without a father in the home results in them becoming a threat to themselves and to others.

They are twice as likely to end up in jail

Half as likely to graduate from college

80% more likely to be jobless and not in school in their 20’s

Graduating college: Boys who grew up with a father are more than twice as likely to graduate college (35%) than those without a father (14%).

Keeping their sons out of jail: Involved fathers reduce the odds that young men end up being arrested.

In boys between 15-19:

With father: 21%

Without father: 31%

The late rapper Tupac Shakur, who was synonymous with gang violence, once said: “I know for a fact that had I had a father, I’d have some discipline. I’d have more confidence… You need a man to teach you how to be a man.”
