Biden forced to admit Keystone XL shut down cost American jobs
The White House quietly admitted that Joe Biden’s executive order to shut down the Keystone XL Pipeline cost the United States thousands of jobs and billions of dollars.
On January 20, 2021, just hours after being sworn in, Joe Biden signed an executive order revoking the permits needed to complete the Keystone XL Pipeline, which would have carried crude oil from Canada to the Gulf Coast.
Biden’s order claimed the pipeline “would not serve the U.S. national interest.”
TLDR: It would have served the U.S. national interest.
Here’s how…
What Biden’s EO cost Americans: In December 2022, Biden’s own Department of Energy completed a congressionally mandated report about the impact the Keystone XL Pipeline would have had on the U.S. economy.
The report found that the pipeline would have:
created as many as 59,000 jobs
had an economic impact of up to $9.6 billion
…not surprisingly, the Biden DOE released this report with no announcement – hoping it wouldn’t get much attention.
Senator Josh Hawley summed it up well, saying:
“Now we learn the truth. Canceling Keystone cost almost 60,000 working class jobs in this country. Not to mention our energy independence. All for the fanatical climate religion of the left.”
