AN ARM AND A TURKEY LEG
This year’s Thanksgiving dinner is going to cost an arm and a turkey leg for American families.
Thanks to un-relenting inflation that’s persisted for the past 19 months of Joe Biden’s presidency, the price of hosting a Thanksgiving dinner is up 14.9% this year.
Back up: Last year’s Thanksgiving also saw 14% inflation compared to 2020.
Here’s what that looks like for these popular holiday foods:
🦃 Turkey: +16.9%
🥔 Potatoes: +15.2%
🍚 14-oz bag of stuffing: +69%
🥧 Pies: +18.6%
🍠 Fresh vegetables: +8.3%
Big picture: While Joe Biden’s economic policies deserve the lion’s share of the blame, experts also put some turkey-related blame on the avian flu, which killed almost 50 million birds in 2022.
Holiday Heroes: Two big-name grocers have pledged to keep their Thanksgiving prices low, despite rising cost pressures.
Walmart has rolled back its turkey prices to under $1 per pound.
Aldi has pledged to keep its Thanksgiving products at 2019 prices.
